Tracks/Rails Friendly Webhosts

It's perfectly possible to install Tracks on public webspace if you have a suitable host which has Ruby and Rails installed. For specific instructions this page has some useful resources with instructions for specific hosts. Even if you find that your host isn't there, you should be able to use the instructions to get you started. Meanwhile, some users have offered recommendations for Tracks-friendly hosts:

TextDrive

TextDrive offers superb support for Rails applications, and a lot of knowledgeable people on the forums who can help you out if you get stuck. I use them for my own installation of Tracks, and they also host the Tracks project page, But She's a Girl and this development site. I've got nothing but praise for them. (bsag)

Railsplayground

I've been using Railsplayground.com and they've been fine so far. I'm on their $25/year plan which I think is a pretty good deal.  The owner seems responsive to users' request sfor new Gems, gettings their databases and domain names squared away, etc.  They also have a Tracks auto-installer which seemed to work well. Tigertech.net

I suspect that there are people who'd love to use Tracks but are intimidated by the installation process as it is described--getting all the Ruby on Rails infrastructure installed and configured can be pretty intimidating for a command-line newbie. In light of this, I'd like to bring my host to the community's attention. Tigertech.net is now providing out-of-the-box support for Ruby on Rails apps. As a result, installation of Tracks is tremendously easier--all you have to upload and config is the Tracks directory itself.

At the risk of going over into full-on evangelizing, I'll further sing the praises of Tigertech.net by saying that their fees are low, the value is good, and the tech support is consistently great--these folks routinely go above and beyond the terms of service to help me get things straightened out. For instance, when I first installed an earlier version of Tracks, I became one of their very first users of Ruby or Rails, and they worked hard to help me get everything installed and working--including helping me figure out why the .htaccess rewrites weren't working properly. In short, I can't recommend them highly enough. Media Temple

I have heard Media Temple Media Temple is great for hosting Ruby apps. I have no connection with them though :) (Srijith Krishnan Nair)
